Massage Therapy

Research suggests massage can ease insomnia, boost immunity, prevent PMS, and more.
Massage can help with pain
Massage has been shown effective for aches like low-back pain. A massage therapist can reduce the levels of stress hormone cortisol while boosting the feel-good hormones serotonin and dopamine. Those changes slow your heart rate, reduce blood pressure, and block your nervous system’s pain receptors. Massage also increases blood flow to the muscles, which may help them heal. It has also been found that massage can ease distress from migraine, labor pain, and even cancer, as well as the body tenderness seen with fibromyalgia.
Massage can help you rest
Fluctuations in several types of brain waves either relax you or wake you up. Massage increases delta waves — those linked with deep sleep.
Massage can help you stay healthy
Massage helps ward off bugs by boosting your “natural killer cells,” the immune system’s first line of defense against invading illness. Cortisol destroys natural killer cells, massage decreases cortisol, so your immune cells get a boost!
What is cupping?
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.
Massage is always a great way to relax and take time for yourself.

After having ankle surgery I had almost no movement in my ankle. I have experienced physical therapy at other places but the one on one attention at Dynamic Life is far more attention than I experienced in the past. The constant suggestions for small movements seem to help speed up the recovery process. I am happy with the speed of my results to regain normal function of my ankle after surgery. I believe physical therapy works and helps speed up the recovery process.

I am forever grateful for Sharee’s knowledge, compassion, and commitment to helping me improve my quality of life. As someone who likes to quickly achieve goals, it was daunting to know the process may be long but she has been with me every step of the way. We celebrate the progress and one day, I believe we will celebrate recovery.

I have been attending yoga classes with Kim for several years now and can honestly say she has literally helped me avoid back surgery. The classes have helped me discover that I actually have core muscles and that they are slowly getting stronger. I get monthly massages at Dynamic Life and I always feel refreshed and revitalized afterward. The entire staff at Dynamic Life always greet me with a sincere smile and are very accommodating. I like the small classes, everyone is there for a common purpose. We encourage and support each other. I truly enjoy the friendships I have made there, and of course, the overall health benefits I recieve. The prices are reasonable. The professionalism is top notch, Columbus is very lucky to have Dynamic Life be a part of our community.

I had a partial knee replacement about 11 years ago. Dynamic Life had opened maybe a year before that. Sharee was wonderful, caring, and knowledgeable about what it took to have a successful recovery. My recovery went great. I started using Dynamic for a workout area shortly after that and to this day I still go there occasionally to use the bike and treadmill. Subsequently, I have had rotator cuff surgery and a second knee replacement. Sharee and Holly have been wonderful to work with. I am their #1 fan and would recommend them to anyone!

I joined Dynamic Life yoga with Kim about 7 years ago. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis, so I decided to try yoga to see if it would help. Stretching and keeping my joints moving has relieved a lot of my pain. It has lowered my stress level as well. I have had physical therapy with Sharee and Holly for knee surgery and scoliosis. I have learned how to walk, sit, and stand properly. My pain has lessened quite a bit. I have a monthly massage and all three girls are great. Dynamic Life is an awesome place to have in Columbus for all our physical and mental needs.

I have taken yoga with Kim Kern for many years, taking off during the summer months and off the two years during Covid. I never forgot the poses but I lost a lot of my flexibility and balance. I also thought I didn’t need to do yoga in the summer because I was active doing yard work and gardening, only to find out I really needed yoga to relieve stiff muscles. I like Dynamic Life yoga because Kim modifies the poses to an individual's ability. Core work and stretches help me with less pain. I love yoga and hope to be able to continue for years to come.

Dynamic Life rocks!!! Beautiful, friendly, and helpful staff. I was one of Sharee’s first clients when she opened Dynamic Life, which is the BEST little business in Columbus! Immediately I felt comfortable which is pretty important when you are out and about only three days after my second knee surgery (#1 was done 10 months prior). When we visited, she asked good questions. My physical therapy started out slowly and each visit we picked up the pace, plus she always commented on my achievements and told me what we’d be doing next. While all of the above was 5 stars, the thing I noticed and loved immediately was that I was in a private room!

    FAQ

You will experience the greatest benefits from your session if you just allow yourself to become quiet and relaxed...which helps your massage therapist focus on providing a great massage!

Definitely communicate with your therapist if you feel any pain or discomfort, if you have any concerns during your massage, or if there is anything your massage therapist can do to make you more comfortable.  Some types of massage that work on deep layers of muscle and tissue, such as deep tissue or sports massage, will require more feedback to ensure that the pressure is not uncomfortable.

It is very common for guests to fall asleep during their massage. If you snore or drool, don’t worry, your  massage therapist has definitely seen this before and will not judge. We love seeing you so relaxed!

Individual preference varies, so for most it depends on your pain, physical needs, emotional needs, and of course, budget. Receiving a massage regularly has the most benefit; this can be as often as weekly or monthly. You not only can treat yourself monthly but also enjoy other perks and benefits within the spa.
